Composite soft magnetic (Soft Magnetic Composite, SMC) material is a kind of bulk material that is coated with insulating material on the surface of iron powder particles, and then pressed into shape by powder metallurgy process. Compared with traditional electrical silicon steel sheets, SMC materials It has the advantages of isotropy, low loss, easy processing, and low cost, and can be widely used in electromagnetic devices with three-dimensional magnetic circuit topologies such as spherical motors, claw pole motors, and axial flux motors. The magnetic flux of the claw pole motor in the stator has both radial direction and axial direction. All parts of the claw pole motor can also consider SMC materials to design the motor stator core. The SMC material is formed by solidifying iron powder and additives under high pressure and high temperature. Adding an insulating film between the iron powder reduces the eddy current loss of the material, and also reduces the magnetic permeability of the material, increasing the hysteresis loss of the material at low frequencies. Only when the magnetic circuit of some special motors such as claw poles and disc structure motors is a three-dimensional structure, can SMC materials exert their advantages over silicon steel materials. Compared with silicon steel materials, SMC materials have the same loss as silicon steel when the operating electrical frequency is around 1000Hz.
